Island Architectural Woodworkers
Mill / Woodworking
D&D has worked with Island Architectural Woodworkers on numerous projects and plant improvements over the years. When they recently approached us with plans to build a new facility to furnish and produce Green Doors, we knew exactly what was needed.
As the leading architectural builder and installer in the industry today, Island Architectural Woodworkers wanted to supply their customers with energy renewable / reusable doors. We recognized that this required only the best and most efficient facility. We started with a l T5 technology lighting package. We installed 55 light fixtures for a 22,000 square foot building while maintaining 80 - 90 foot candles of light. The lighting system also delivered optimum lighting while considerably reducing operational costs.
The second energy efficiency item on the list was the compressed air system. We installed an Atlas Copco GA30VSD, along with a complete looped compressed air piping system using Legris aluminum pipe system. The dust collection system was equipped with air-actuated slide valves to improve the plant’s dust collection needs, which in turn ran more efficiently and reduced electrical cost. The entire plant now runs on ten staged rooftop air conditioners, which are programmed for demand controls.
D&D also relocated two of the client’s collection systems, which were being used at their other facilities. D&D provided all necessary rigging and transportation as well as redesigning the structure frames. In addition, welding and fabrication of systems legs were needed to install a common dust collection bin for both systems.
D&D is now in the process of upgrading Island Architectural Woodworkers’ other facilities.
